GHP Meetings and Reports

Many projects within GHP hold meetings throughout the year, and are listed below. You can also find reports from the Panel-wide annual GHP Meetings at the bottom of the page.

11th HyMeX Workshop

Dates: 29 May-2 June 2018
: Lecce, Italy

The general objective of the HyMeX Workshop is to present and discuss recent scientific progress in the understanding of the Mediterranean water cycle, from multiscale and multidisciplinary approaches, and to foster further collaborations within the HyMeX community.

The 11th HyMeX workshop will be organized along the HyMeX science topics: heavy precipitation, Mediterranean cyclones, ocean circulation and processes, drought and water resources, flash-floods and social vulnerability, integrated prediction of heavy precipitation and impacts, the water cycle, and renewable energy.

4th Annual OzEWEX Workshop: A National Environmental Observation and Prediction System for the Year 2030

Date: 6 December 2017
Location: CSIRO, Hobart, Tasmania

The 4th national OzEWEX workshop will explore what a future comprehensive National Environmental Prediction system should look like and what observations it will need. The format will include several invited presentations and facilitated discussion.

Workshop on ANDEX – A Regional Hydrological Program for the Andes

Dates: 4-6 December 2017
Location: Medellin, Colombia

This workshop will explore establishing a Regional Hydroclimate Project (RHP) for the Andes region.

Including Water Management in Large Scale Models

Dates: 28-30 September 2016
Location: CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, France

Convened by the Global Land/Atmosphere System Study Panel (GLASS) and the GEWEX Hydroclimatology Panel (GHP), this meeting will focus on representing the human dimension in land-surface models (LSMs). GLASS and GHP, both GEWEX Panels, have launched a cross-cutting initiative that promotes the inclusion of human processes in LSMs and broadens GEWEX’s current consideration of anthropogenic influences.

2nd INARCH Workshop

Dates: 17-19 October 2016
Location: Grenoble, France

This workshop provided a venue to bring scientists together to explore and discuss specific issues in mountain snow and ice hydrology highlighted after the inaugural INARCH workshop in Kananaskis in October 2015.
Three main topics will be covered by the Workshop:
  • Atmospheric downscaling for mountain snow and ice hydrology modeling
  • Availability and suitability of surface observations and spatial observations from mountain observatories and discussion of the mountain observations journal special issue
  • Climate sensitivity numerical experiments – results from numerical diagnostic experiments using the cryospheric and hydrological response of mountain catchments to various representations of a changing climate

3rd PannEx Workshop

Dates: 20-22 March 2017
Location: Cluj-Napoca, Romania

PannEx is a prospective Regional Hydroclimate Project (RHP) of GEWEX centered in the Pannonian basin. This workshop is dedicated to introducing the ongoing and planned research on climate change in extreme weather events and adaptation, sharing experiences in this area and climate-related communication, and discussing potential areas of cooperation with participants from Central and Eastern Europe and other parts of the continent in order to develop future partnerships for research projects in the Pannonian Basin. The workshop is intended to define PannEx’s Science Plan on the results of the discussions during the meeting.
