Unified Forecasting System Survey

This is your opportunity to have a say in which verification metrics are used to assess the readiness of potential new versions of operational forecasting models.

The UFS Verification and Validation Application Team is conducting this survey to identify and prioritize key metrics to use for assessing the Unified Forecast System (UFS – ufscommunity.org).

The UFS community wants this to be a fair, transparent, and comprehensive process, which requires input from a diverse set of researchers, customers, and stakeholders across the government, academic, and private sectors.

The surveys should only take 5-10 minutes of your time. Follow the links below to provide your input for one or more application:

These surveys only attempt to prioritize fields; subsequent surveys will address specific metrics (e.g. RMSE, bias, …..), levels, accumulations, and references. We appreciate to receive your input by 2 November 2020.

The results will be discussed at the 2021 Developmental Testbed Center (DTC) UFS Evaluation Metrics Workshop to be held remotely February 22-24, 2021. You do not have to be planning to attend the workshop to complete the survey. Check out the Metrics Workshop website for additional workshop information and to sign up for updates.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this important process.
