Large-scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA)

LBA Data Sets Released in November 2009

LBA-ECO CD-04 CO2 Profiles, 83 km Tower Site, Tapajos National Forest
http://dx.doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/947
Atmospheric carbon dioxide measured at 12 levels up to 64 m at the 83 km logged tower site in Tapajos National Forest, Brazil. Data were collected from June 2000 through March 2004 using an infra-red gas analyzer on the tower at 48 minute intervals. Data are provided in a single comma delimited file.

LBA-ECO CD-04 Meteorological and Flux Data, km 83 Tower site, Tapajos National Forest
http://dx.doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/946
30-minute, daily (24-hour), and monthly average flux tower measurements of carbon dioxide, water vapor, heat and meteorological variables in three comma delimited files.

LBA Data Sets Released in October 2009

LBA-ECO CD-03 Mesoscale Meteorological Data, Santarem Region, Para, Brazil: 1998-2006
http://dx.doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/944
Meteorological data from the Santarem region of Para, Brazil, collected at eight stations for 2002-2005 and at some of the stations for as long as 1998-2006. Measurements include air temperature and pressure, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, downward solar radiation, and at some stations, soil temperature and moisture.

LBA-ECO CD-03 Cloud Base-Backscatter Data, 67 km Tower Site, Tapajos National Forest
http://dx.doi.org/10.3334/ORNLDAAC/942
30 minute average cloud base and backscatter profile data from the old-growth forest site located at the forest site located at the 67 km Eddy Flux Tower site, Tapajos National Forest, Santarem, Brazil. Ceilometer backscatter profiles were recorded at 30-m resolution up to 7500 m and measurement statistics were calculated. Three cloud base levels were calculated from the profiles. The ceilometer was operational for a sufficient amount of time to examine wet-dry seasonal variations in cloud cover fraction and cloud base height.

Pre-LBA Data Sets

Data collected in Amazonia 20 years prior to LBS are available in a three-volume CD-ROM set. These data sets may be ordered at the LBA website and include satellite imagery, micrometeorological observations, near-surface and upper-air atmospheric conditions, and surface biophysical and hydrological measurements.

Vol. 1: FLUAMAZON, ISCLSCP, RADAMBRAZIL, RBLE

Vol. 2: ARME, FLODAMA, SCAR-B

Vol. 3: ABLE, ABRACOS, CAMREX, RONDONIA Maps - CABARE, TRACE-A

JERS-1 SAR Global Rain Forest Mapping Project: Vol. AM-1, South America

Volume AM-1 of the Japanese Earth Resources Satellite (JERS-1) SAR Global Rainforest Mapping Project CD-ROM series is a four-disk set containing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery from the rainforest region of South America, including the Amazon Basin, during 1995-1996.

More information about LBA data sets is available at the LBA web site (http://lba.cptec.inpe.br/lba/index.php?lg=eng) and the CEOP data management website.
