The U.S. National Science Foundation is sponsoring a limited number of awards to support participation in the 2nd Pan-GEWEX Meeting by young scientists (Ph.D. graduate students, post-doctoral research associates or Assistant Professors in the first three years of their first faculty appointment) who are affiliated with institutions in the United States. Applications for support must be received no later than 18 July 2010. The application can be found here and must be emailed as a single PDF file attachment to Eric Wood (efwood@princeton.edu) with the subject line “GEWEX Travel Support Application.”
Selection Criteria
- Applicants must be full-time doctoral (Ph.D. or equivalent) students in good standing enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the U.S., or postdoctoral associates not more than 3 years beyond receipt of their Ph.D., or Assistant Professors in the first 3 years of their initial faculty appointment.
- Applicants must be active participants in the meeting. Priority will be given to applicants whose research addresses GEWEX science goals.
- Priority will be given to applicants who have secured partial funding from other sources to attend. A commitment for any partial funding should be provided in the form of a letter from the applicant's institution or other funding source.
Responsibilities
- Following the meeting, each awardee must submit a brief summary explaining how their participation in the meeting will affect their research and career development.
